Since the 1970’s, Black Friday has been the busiest shopping day of the year.  But it has only been within the last decade that shoppers have started taking Black Friday seriously…very seriously.  We’ve all heard the reports of people getting trampled or pepper-sprayed while trying to get through the Black Friday crowds.  To make sure your business doesn’t get caught up in the pandemonium, you need serious planning.  Here are some Black Friday tips.

Make sure you are well staffed.  You need employees that are well-educated about your products and business practices to help you wade through the Black Friday storm.  Make sure you’ve scheduled the most adept employees for this day.

Put an inventory tracking strategy in place.  Extra inventory is mandatory.  You don’t want to run out of your most popular and profitable items in the middle of the weekend.

Make a clear schedule.  Obviously, not many employees will want to work the Thanksgiving weekend.  But those that are scheduled need to know that the store is counting on them.  Create a large, clear schedule that all employees can see.

Your business can’t afford to NOT tap into the millions of shoppers that will be out and about this holiday weekend.  Use things like large format calendars, employee schedules, and goal monitors to help you and your employees visualize important information this Thanksgiving weekend.
