Chart of the Day: America’s Manufacturing Comeback

Posted on December 7, 2012

People talk a lot about how America ships a substantial amount of its manufacturing jobs overseas.   But what many people miss is how big America’s manufacturing industry is at home.  DaVinci Business Graphics shares a few charts that demonstrate the size and importance of America’s manufacturing industry.

According to a series of charts released by Business Insider, America’s manufacturing industry is still important domestically.  Manufacturing is the 4th largest employer in the US.

In 2010, manufacturing businesses employed more than 1 million people in California, and over 700,000 in Texas, the nation’s two biggest manufacturing states.

The top ten industries for manufacturing include petroleum and coal products, food, transportation equipment, and much more.  And with Apple’s recent announcement that it plans to manufacture a line of Mac computers in the US rather than China, it seems that American manufacturing is making a strong comeback.

Charts like the ones above can help businesses visualize data and make better informed decisions.  If you’d like to create custom charts to use in your sales room, office, or in your business presentations, contact DaVinci Business Graphics.  We create business charts to help you assess goals, measure progress, create marketing calendars, and more.
